Planting for 2027

“I’m going to plant bulbs this year.” I say this every spring as the snow melts and the world turns from brown to green to gorgeous. The anticipation of spring is a rite of passage for New Englanders. Seeing crocuses and tulips poke out of the often still snowy ground signaling its arrival is a source of joy and a reward for surviving winter. Yet, every year, fall comes and goes, the ground freezes and I plant nothing. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I don’t have a green thumb. This year, a friend of mine who started splitting her time in another state asked me to plant-sit while she is away. If she trusts me enough to care for Charlie, (yes, we named the plant) I can handle planting bulbs in the ground. Armed with this confidence, I bought hyacinth, tulips and daffodils. After years of empty talk about planting, It felt good to be digging in the dirt preparing for something whose beauty will reveal itself months from now after a long, cold winter. When those first buds break through the ground, I will be waiting. Each bulb I place in the ground reminds me to exercise agency in life. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know what I can do today.

Like fall planting for a beautiful spring reveal, the right preparation will set you up for success regardless of market conditions and interest rates. If you are planning a move in 2027, reach out now for a step by step plan for success.
